Give an inch and they'll take a mile

At least this is how I feel with Hailey sometimes, lol. Today was a perfect example. We had to make a very quick to the grocery store today after lunch with my sister. Hannah is now sitting in the front seat of the cart and Hailey is usually put into the cart basket. Well today I decided to be nice and let her ride and stand on the end. We were going over to the bakery to get her a cookie- yes I was feeling very nice today. All of a sudden she jumps off, runs over to the donut case, opens the door... AND GRABS A DONUT AND TAKES A BITE!!!!
I was very embarassed because not only was there another customer, but an employee watching us. Of course I had to pay for the donut after that... to be completely honest I probably would have put the donut w/ a bite out back into the case if no one was watching, lol. So then of course Hailey thought that she got to eat it... so she took another bite while it was in the cart and I had to tell her no and she about had a meltdown over the donut hahaha!!! Never a dull moments with my monsters!!
And in case anyone is reading this specifically about the potty training---- TODAY WENT GREAT AGAIN!!! No accidents at all- even though we went out to lunch and to the grocery store as well. Not so good last night, but that's completely my fault and I take full responsibility for it. I had set my alarm at 130 to get her up to go, and my alarm even woke Tim up as well, but I somehow turned the alarm off and went back to sleep... only to have Hailey wake me up less than an hour later because she had peed---- ahhhh crap! Bad mommy!! So I'm going to try my hardest to not turn the alarm off tonight =)

Overactive.......

..... BLADDERS!!! Yes you read that word right! Hailey has been going on the potty LIKE CRAZY!!! It's been VERY overwhelming, but I'm a bit more assured now that I've heard from many others that it's very normal for that to happen.
But I'm not gonna lie- today was EXHAUSTING!!! Tim wasn't feeling well (yes again) this weekend and opted to stay home from church today. I was feeling very ambitious thinking that I could handle both girls at church by myself. What I failed to remember was how often Hailey is going potty right now. While at church she went 6, yes 6, times!! The hardest part of that is that Hannah is also so young still and quite the momma's girl. But I did it and survived!!
Then this evening she went to the bathroom more times than I can count. Of course we have her go right before bed... and she did that 3 times... then we put her to bed and she was downstairs within 2 minutes. She went I think 5 times more... ( I lost track it was SO much!) Whew that's a lot of 'waste' lol!!
Buuuuutttt.... SHE WENT THE WHOLE DAY WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT!!!
And kept dry all last night as well. Tim got her up at about 1:30 to go and then she kept dry until the morning!!!
Yay Hailey!!!!!!!!!! And almost everytime she was the one to initiate going to the potty by telling me--- Yipeee!~!!! She's learning!!

And the story continues...

So the past 2 days have gone very well, especially considering that I just started training Hailey on Monday. So on Thursday (day #4) I was dying to get out of the house so I went to Costco w/ my friend Janae. Hailey did VERY well while we were out and went a whole 2 hours without an accident and then went in the potty like it was nothing. She only had 1 accident that day and it was late in the evening and I take all the blame for it. I just forgot what the time was and she said "Mommy I have to go potty" because she was in mid pee. I rushed her to the potty and she finished. It ended up being about 2 1/2 hours since the last time that she had gone so I couldn't really blame her.
So yesterday (Friday and day #5) she still overall did very well. The biggest problem that we have with her now is once we're out of the house and she's out of her comfort zone, she seems to have a problem keeping dry. So I made her wear wet pants for a while, mainly because it was her 2nd accident while we were out and I had already used our 'backup' pair. She ended up with quite the rash on her legs... I felt bad, but I really want her to know what it feels like and that it's not a good feeling. The strange thing with her accidents is that I had taken her to the potty several times, but it still happened. I guess I need to keep more on top of her while we're out of the house now. Ugh yesterday was a very frustrating day with her, but there's no way I'm ever going back to diapers with her again!! So we'll just keep pressing on and things can only get better from here.
Now to end on a positive note =) Hailey did VERY well last night. She woke me up about 5:30am to tell me that she peed, but I looked down and saw that she wasn't wearing any bottoms. So I took her into the bathroom to go potty and saw that they were both on the ground. We went upstairs to put her back to bed and I was totally expecting to have to change her sheets, but nope!! They were 100% dry so she must have woken up and realized that she had to go potty , but wasn't able to make it in time. That makes me very happy because, to me, that means she's realizing she needs to get to the potty. So overall we're making very very good progress.
Sometimes when she has an accident it can be very discouring, but I'm just trying to keep my head up while letting her know that that behavior isn't ok. That she's a big girl now and needs to keep her panties dry. Here's to a sane mommy while we continue to fully potty train her!! At least we're over a very big hurdle right now!!

Day #3

And here was another completely different day...

Let's start with last night.... it was exhausting... but not because of just Hailey. Hannah woke up 3, yes 3, times!!! I think that her teeth are just bothering her way too much- poor thing =( Hailey woke up only once when she had wet the bed. So I put her on the potty, changed her panties and sheets, and put her back to bed. That was at about 1am last night and when she came downstairs this morning---- SHE WAS DRY!!!! So that means she went 5 1/2 hours while she was sleeping!!!! Now I know that, yea she still peed the bed, but otherwise that is a HUGE step in the right direction!!!

I call this pic "Yay for potty" She basically ran around in panties and a shirt for the past 3 days

Now to the morning. SHE DID WONDERFUL!!!! It started out by me telling her to go potty and then 2 times she told me she went poopy... but she didn't! She meant she had to go because I rushed her into the bathroom and she proceeded to go! Then for the rest of the morning she told me when she had to go.... unfortunately that was about every 1/2 hour for about 4 hours... but she went everytime she sat on the potty!!! So she really did have to go and she was realizing it before she had an accident!! I could practically see the light bulb switching "ON" in her brain!!! At one point she even stopped playing upstairs to tell me that she had to go potty.... What?!! Yep that's right she did!!! I was sooo very proud of her!!

She didn't have a single accident all day long!!!!!!! I told her that if she could keep her panties dry all day long then I would paint her nails... and mommy followed through on the promise!

Day #2

Today went sooooo much better!!!!!!
We didn't even have our first accident until about 1pm!!! Then she had another one about half and hour later and both of those were directly related to going #2. Poor thing. I know it's very hard for some kids to get past the awkwardness of going poo on the potty instead of in their diapers. She tried to hide and poo in her panties, haha... it looked like a big lump underneath her panties!! But she realized it was wrong and not the right thing to do!!! That's where I know that we're gaining ground with her. And then.... she comes up to me early this evening saying " Mommy I have to go potty" so I get all rushed and run her to the bathroom not knowing if she was about to pee her pants or not. Well she ended up going pee and poo- wow!!! Yay Hailey!!! Then randomly the girls and I were playing upstairs before bedtime while Tim was in class and she pees- sitting right next to me!!! Now I've been taking her to the potty at regular intervals though out the day and she had just went to the bathroom. She instantly starting saying sorry mommy and playing in it- gross!!!
Last night she, of course, wet the bed, but I expected it and had stuffed some towels underneath her sheets so that it made for an easier clean up this morning. I even tried to wake her up last night to go to the bathroom, but she couldn't get anything out. I don't mind washing sheets and blankets and I really wanted to go all out for the potty training... so no pull-ups/ diapers for night time. I want her to understand what it feels like so that she hopefully kicks that habit real soon and I really don't want to make excuses for her. She needs to have my confidence that she can do it and stay dry through the night.
So here's to day 3 tomorrow. May it be even better than today- because I'm seriously sick of being stuck in my house, lol!

Day #1

Potty training... these words give me a serious headache... I had a great recommendation for a book on help w/ potty traininghttp://www.amazon.com/Potty-Train-Three-Days-Kleint/dp/0971639906 I don't think that this is the exact book my friend used, but I'm pretty sure that it follows basically the same steps. So yesterday we had our first day. I prepped for it knowing that we would have MANY accidents... Yesterday was also VERY HARD!! We went through about 7+ pairs of panties and quite often she would wet herself right after she was just on the potty... sometimes she had managed to get some pee out, sometimes not. And a few times it was even RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!! It was extremely frustrating, especially with another baby to take care of who is very cranky from teething right now. The book says you need to stay in the bathroom with them the whole time... ya that doesn't happen so easily when Hannah is screaming lol... it also says to keep by your child's side all day for 3 days to stop the accidents before they happen and/ or to catch them in the middle. Also not as easy as it sounds, lol. But I sure did my best! To get ready for all of this we got the little potty, plenty of panties that Hailey got to pick out (she chose Minnie Mouse and Tinkerbell), a special toy that she only gets to play with on the potty, a new "Addy Caddaby" (from sesame street) potty training book, and treats. So I feel pretty proud of myself for yesterday... like I said it was miserable... she peed on the floor many times, on my rug, on my couch (ya not allowed on the couch anymore, lol), etc. and I managed to keep my cool pretty darn well and stay patient with her. She understood about halfway through the day that it wasn't ok to pee in her panties and pretty soon she would tell me in mid pee... poor thing and then the whole time saying sorry mommy. So here's to another day... DAY 2!!! I'll have to update on how that goes later!
